The show was aired on Sony TV. The fourth season was aired between 2008 and 2009. There were two girls in the top three slots for the first time ever in Indian Idol’s history. The title of the show was given to Sourabhee Debbarma. She was the first female contestant to have ever won the title. That was the most amazing part of the show. She won a contract of Rs.1 crore with Sony Entertainment Television. She also won a TATA Winger. An album called Meherbaan was released by her after wining the title of Indian Idol Season 4. Around the country she also performed some stage shows. Hussain Kuwajerwala and Meiyang Chang hosted the show. The first four finalists who were eliminated were female. This has been the case with all the seasons of the show. Some of the girls eliminated from the show were better than the remaining boys according to some judges.
