Description

Man Hunt: Death Blow

Manhunt: Deathblow is the second episode of the National Geographic Channel’s show Manhunt. Host Hayden Turner visited the Jahai tribe in the rainforest of Malaysia. They are the world’s first blowpipe hunters, using blowpipes when they look for food. The Jahai tribe is a sub-group of the Negrito, generally short and dark with curly hair. Some of them have transferred and lived in government settlement houses, but most still lives in their traditional villages. The villagers teach Hayden their hunting processes and share with him the skills that they use during hunting. While other tribes use spears and bow and arrows to hunt for their prey, the Jahai tribe uses a blowpipe, a long, thin pipe hollow in the middle where they could put a small rock, and blow in it to hit their target. It is handmade and crafted for each hunter. After a brief lesson on how to use the blowpipe, the host and the hunters go out to hunt to demonstrate how hunting with a traditional and original weapon is used.
