Samurai Jack is an American animated television series created by the animator Genndy Tartakovsky that aired on both the Cartoon Network and Toonami from 2001 to 2004. It is noted for its highly detailed, outline-free, masking-based animation, as well as for its cinematic style. Samurai Jack was the first Cartoon Network original series aside from those who comprised the Cartoon Cartoons lineup at the time. Samurai is the son of an unnamed Emperor of Japan. Jack, name comes from the reaction of alein inhabitants of future Earth and he was inspired to become a samurai when as a child he saw a samurai defend his son against the bandits. Before Jack was born, his father had been pulled into the battle against Aku. His father is defeated by Aku. Samurai jack wanted to revenge for this. After years of training, Jack soon found his father now a weakened old man. His father begged Jack not to fight Aku at that time, but he wouldn't listen and went off to fight and not knowing that he wouldn't see his father again.
